About UnderSpeak

Every group has a language of its own.

Teenagers have one. So do doctors, lawyers, gamers, finance people, the kids in your child's group chat, and the people in the meeting you just left. Most of the time you can follow along. Sometimes a word lands and you realise you've missed something. A meaning, a tone, a piece of context that everyone else seems to share.

UnderSpeak is for those moments.

You paste in the word, the phrase, or the message you don't understand. We tell you what it actually means, how it's being used, and whether it's worth paying closer attention to. No long glossary to scroll through. No judgement. No awkwardness about asking. Just the answer, when you need it.

We've started with the language young people use, because that's where most adults first notice the gap. But the same idea works anywhere a group has built its own way of speaking. Workplace jargon. Medical shorthand. Legal terminology. Regional slang. Each one becomes its own keychain inside the app, and we'll keep adding them.

You don't need to keep up with every new term. You just need a way in when one matters to you.

Voice input

On supported browsers, you can dictate into the text box instead of typing. UnderSpeak does not record or store audio. Nothing is sent for decoding until you tap Decode — only the text in the box goes to our AI provider, same as when you type.

Dictation itself uses your browser's speech service (for example Google in Chrome or Apple in Safari), which requires an internet connection and may send audio to that vendor to produce text. That happens between your device and your browser vendor — not on UnderSpeak's servers. We don't receive audio, and we don't keep transcripts beyond this browsing session unless you decode (then the same session cache rules apply as for typed input).

If voice isn't available in your browser, you can always paste or type instead.
